Anxiety Counselling
Anxiety counselling supports you to develop a new relationship with anxiety and discover strategies to manage it. Because the experience of anxiety varies widely, treatment will be tailored to your unique needs.
What to Expect in Anxiety Counselling
Anxiety is a natural psychological and physiological response to perceived stress or danger, characterized by worry, fear, or unease. While everyday anxiety helps us respond to threats, problematic anxiety is disproportionate to the situation and interferes with daily functioning.
Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, overwhelm, perfectionism, irritability, trouble sleeping, or feeling "on edge". Anxiety may arise in response to real concerns about a future event. However, it may also signal the body's attempt to suppress underlying emotions.
I'll aim to help you explore the root causes of your anxiety and identify the skills and strategies that will help to manage it. Some approaches that may help include CBT to support cognitive and behavioural change, somatic therapy to support body awareness and emotional processing, and mindfulness to support stress reduction. We'll work together to build your capacity to regulate your nervous system so that you can respond to life's stressors with greater steadiness and ease.
