Counselling for Depression
Counselling for depression is a collaborative process designed to help you understand the root causes of your symptoms, regulate your emotions, and identify a path toward healing at a manageable pace.
What to Expect in Depression
Counselling
Depression and low mood can affect how you think, feel, and move through the world. You may feel numb, hopeless, isolated, unmotivated, and disconnected from yourself and others. Or perhaps you're having difficulty accessing joy or finding interest in things that used to matter to you. Depression can leave you feeling powerless and doubtful that anything can change.
The good news is, therapy can help. I offer a compassionate space to process what you're experiencing, deeply understand the contributing factors, and take steps toward change at pace that feels manageable to you. I will gently guide and hold hope for you, even if you're unable to feel hope for yourself. I believe that you can feel better and I am here to support you.
Because the causes and experiences of depression and low mood vary widely, our work together may draw upon various therapeutic approaches including CBT to support cognitive and behavioural change, interpersonal therapy (IPT) to support relational change, and somatic therapy to support body awareness and emotional processing. Together, we'll find the approaches that work best for you.
